Or...how do I tell when I can go back?
I've had a URI since a week ago Sunday, thought I was doing better today. I went to school to make up some of my clinical time (by doing alternative activities) and came home and was running a low grade temp. (99.3; normal for me is around 98.0).
Thanks,
NurseFirst

don't know what to tell except kinda play it by ear...if you are feeling better go for it...you don't want to infect anyone but sometimes getting up and going is the best thing

Thanks. Well, the worst part is that my clinical is on an oncology floor--not that there aren't other patients on the floor--but clearly there will be some immunocompromised folks there.

For us, it depends where we are. I've never been on an oncology floor, maybe ask your instructor to put you with a low risk patient. There strict about it whenever we're in the nursery or labord and delivery, peds...if we have a cold, we aren't allowed to attend. Be extra careful about handwashing.

And wear a mask if you do go. We have nurses do that in our ER if they are feeling a little sick and are worried they could be contagious
