Looking for some help or tips about finding housing if it is not provided by your company. I have done some research but am very lost and can't seem to find any real numbers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ditto Airbnb and Craigslist. Both are top notch. With Craig you need to be a little more careful but Airbnb is already vetted and safe. I have sometimes announced and or posted a sign in lounge at my new contract to rent from a staff member. I almost always get a response from someone who wants an extra 500 bucks a month cash for three months. I pull a trailer to my contracts now, but that's how I used to do it.

If you own or rent a home, you can temporary swap it on www.svop.us for a home close to your hospital.
They sometimes even match me with other travel nurses.

I would take the housing stipend and find your own housing on Craigslist. For apartments, Craigslist is pretty safe, at least in my experience. Just get the phone number off their posting and let them know your situation and how you may only be there for 13 weeks or whatever and if they're willing to do no lease or short term lease.
