Help! Direct-entry MGH vs. Simmons

Posted

Hi, I've been admitted to MGH and Simmons direct-entry programs, and now I have to make a decision....Help! Any advice? Thanks - Nico

P.S. Any quick advice would be much appreciated, since simmons wants a decision and money from me SOON.

Hello,

I just thought I'd give u some insight on the two, given I don't attend either, but know of several people who do go to Simmons and are in the program. The ones at simmons love it. But dont have anything to compare it too. WHat was ur undergrad degree in? In my opinion, since I am into accel. program yet havent received a acceptance letter back, I would do MGH. That program just seems more straight forward and I feel one would be more prepared for the field once finished!! But at any rate, you got into both schools and you are already off on the right foot!! What's ur GPA and gre scores?? Which ever school u enter ur going into ur going to be successful and prepared. From the research Ive done i think MGH is more than simmons but you gonna get a good education. Good luck!

Beach23 - I also have been accepted to both Simmons and MGH and am in the process of deciding. Simmons is actually the more expensive program ($760/credit vs. $707/credit at MGH). Simmons also has a required 9-month RN internship which I think is a great thing. And all of Simmons faculty is required to practice actively. I guess I'm leaning towards Simmons :rotfl:

Hi,

I am in the accelerated bsn program at Simmons. i researched extensively on nursing programs in the boston area before i started. i would definitely choose simmons over MGH. i almost done with my program and every clinical that i have been at so far, the nurses on the floor are delighted to have simmons students. simmons has a great reputation among nurses at all of bostons' biggest and best hospitals. the professors are great and make the classes challenging enough that you learn a great deal, but they are also there and want you to succeed. granted, its not perfect...but i would definitely choose it over the mgh program.

Hi nurse2b63,

I intend on applying for the accelerated BSN program in 2007 and i was wondering if you might be interested in sharing your entry grade as well as how difficult/easy it is to get into the program. Additionally, did you take any of the science summer classes? Thanks a lot.
