Help decide, type of NP and How does it work for you?

Hello, I am having a hard time pinning down exactly what degree I would need to do the following things. I'm a RN will finish my BSN next year around may, then go for my NP. My issue is what type of NP do I need to become. I have been reading these threads today and I do not see any threads relating to what I am looking for exactly. Also if anyone out there is doing what I have describe could you let me know what you do on a daily basis, work hours, coverage, and how is the job overall, thanks.

I want to see patients from around 8 yrs old on up, however, primarily adults, I essentially want to be able to do what similarly what the doctors do where I work in med surge. (internal medicine but no ICU/Trauma) I want to Treat High BP, Diabetes, Infections, headaches, cold, pneumonia, pain, cardiac issues etc essentially medical surgical work.

However, I would also like the ability to work in the Adult ER if I so wish to do so. Diagnose, write prescriptions, call consults for surgery, psych, neuro etc. I do not wish to be able to insert picc lines, assist on surgeries, open chests etc. Lastly, I would love the opportunity in the future to perhaps have my own clinic/care center, thanks a lot. I guess all in all I would like to function similarly as a hospitalist. Can this be done as a nurse practitioner.I live in florida by the way.

It sounds like FNP is what you want.
