I have been trying to get a per diem or part time hospital job in Boston since May. I'm a BSN student but still, not a single email or call back from HR about positions like...
CNA/PCA
unit secretary
patient service coordinator
operation associate
...you get the idea :)
To those lucky enough to be hired by a hospital during school, what made the difference? I really need to help out with bills, rent, etc. and I'm very grateful for any advice or leads! Thank you so much

Hi I am in first semester nursing and I work at mass gen as a pca. The way I did was I volunteered at mgh for a year in that depart. A position finally opened up and they offered it to me. That's a great way to get into the hospital you hope to work at.
Sorry about your situation and goodluck with everything....
Thanks Erindel! Update: I did finally get a call back for a unit secretary position. If my references check out (and I'm sure they will) then I think the job is mine, thank goodness. To anyone else in my shoes, my best advice is to hang in there. It took me 5 months to even get a call, but I didn't network or use old connections. Probably should have in hindsight....but just keep applying!
Congrats on the callback... I hope u get the job!!!
