in nur109, students are introduced to fundamental aspects of nursing practice that are critical to the health and well being of any patient in any setting and to the nursing process as a framework to guide the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care in general medical/surgical settings.

in assignment 1, students are required to demonstrate their ability to critically apply the knowledge gained in nur109 to one of the following aspects of fundamental nursing care.

• promoting and maintaining skin integrity
  
• promoting and supporting adequate nutrition
  

(2) using the framework below, discuss the nursing management of your chosen topic in a general medical/surgical setting.

you must include evidence and/or rationales for your nursing management decisions.

• as part of the introduction to your assignment, provide a one paragraph (approx 150-200 words) overview of why your chosen topic is critical to a patient's health and wellbeing.
  
• in relation to your chosen topic, what nursing assessments are appropriate and required to assess the patient's functional health status?
  
• formulate 2-3 actual nursing diagnoses that might apply to your chosen topic. each nursing diagnosis must identify what it might be related to and what nursing assessment findings might support it.
  
• for each nursing diagnosis you identify above, discuss what nursing interventions you would implement to address the nursing problem. rationales must be given for all nursing interventions you identify.
