HELP! ADN wants PHN. Is it possible?

Published

I want to obtain my PHN without obtaining my BSN. Does anyone know how? I heard it was possible! Write me, [email protected]

Hi,

I know you posted this a long time ago, but I am new to this community and was just reading some posts. Anyway, did you ever find out how to get into Public Health Nursing with your ADN? I am graduating from RN school in August and I am interested in going into PHN. Let me know. Thanks :)

I am an ADN and have been a PHN for almost three years. I did have six years of nursing experience in other areas...acute care, geriatric, Hospice...but I don't think the prior experience influenced my getting the current job. I say go for it...contact your county (or city) health department!! :) :) :)

Hi,

How did you get your job in public health nursing? Tell me about your background. Do you have any advice for me? Thanks!

PHN is not a degree. It is a title put on people who work out in the community for the health dept. either county or state. The need for a BSN for certain jobs is at the disgreeion of the hireing health dept.
