Heartbroken

Today has been one of the hardest days in my short time as a school nurse. Yesterday our community suffered a horrible loss. Two children died as a result of a house fire, a third child, only an infant passed away today. Another sibling made it out safely with their mother. As hard as it was for me to go to work this morning, it was nothing compared to how hard it was for the staff of the school these children attended. We are in one of those communities where everyone knows everyone so of course this is so difficult for the entire community. I just want to share with everyone just how quick things can change and you just never know when one of those precious little ones won't be coming back to the health office. I know that today, I made sure that every student that visited my office, those I encountered in the halls and in the classrooms I visited, knew that I am here for them and really care about them.

Thank you for sharing this reminder of just how delicate and precious our children are; whether ours or not ours they all are on loan from God. I pray His healing for you and your community in the days, weeks, and months ahead as you all readjust from this tragic loss....in His name.

I've been following the story all day and another AN member lives nearby as well.

Just watched the firefighters interviewed. They all feel like they failed. The 9 month old died as well.

Tragic and yes, heartbreaking.

I'm so so so sorry for this. My thoughts are with you and your community.

Sorry for your loss. Thank YOU for caring so deeply about the children in your community. {{{ HUGS }}} to get you through the days ahead.

Absolutely heartbreaking. I cannot even imagine. I'll be thinking of those sweet children and their family.

So sorry to hear this. Thank you for the reminder that life is indeed precious and sometimes fleeting. :(

I am so sorry. {{{Hugs}}} to you.

I am sorry for your loss. I have been a firefighter as long as i've been a nurse and it never ceases to amaze me how quickly tragedy can impact an entire community. The adage "it takes a village" never seems so real until on of those beautiful children is lost. My thoughts are with you and your community at this difficult time. We're here for you if you need someone to talk to -feel free to PM at any time

Thinking of you guys and pray for peace in the coming days. So sorry.

So sorry to hear, my prayers are with you and the community. Thank you so much for this reminder, couldn't have said it better than OldDude did.

Im so sorry......tough days ahead for all. Be sure to take of yourself while you are, no doubt, taking care of everyone else......

{{{Gentle Hugs}}}

Thank you everyone, please remember the community esp the family and those that responded to the scene and worked so hard and tirelessly at the hospital. This has been very difficult on the police officers and fire fighters, they are having a hard time.
