Healthcare myths in the US

Interesting blog by a physician. This essay reiterates what most of us know, who have had exposure to healthcare in other countries. I've worked for multi-national corporations myself, and can attest to horror stories in other "progressive" (For those not from border states, that's another word for Socialist) countries.

If all your news comes from the main stream media, or irresponsible alarmists like DailyKos, then you are not even getting half the story.

While he does raise some good points, I don't appreciate how horribly he simplified preventative care. When your main points consist of leaving a great deal out...that's what is commonly called a "half truth". Basically he made the same sweeping generalisations he was speaking out against, using similar logic...only in a different direction. Kinda funny when you lead in with a "half the story".

And as for the bias you mention...yeah, a physician has no stake whatsoever in keeping universal coverage off the board

What I do appreciate about this is that he quantified and elaborated on some areas that usually aren't in defence of his position, and he even managed to do it without confusing the *compassion* of liberals with "guilt", as certain people on the right so often do. However, if with that having been said he still couldn't get through his post without name calling and belitting liberals.

So sadly, even the better thought out arguments reduces itself to immature labeling, assumptions, generalsations, and name calling.

No wonder we can't make any progress

i definatly agree with him about what a mess the "pay for performance" policy is going to become. it is really scary.

how are they ever going to find doctors to take care of the high-risk and/or traditionally noncompliant patients? it is already difficult to find a doctor willing to take care of them. this is going to make it much more difficult.

i agree where the high risk are concerned but the noncompliant...screw em.

there are only so many pieces of the pie and if someone is squandering resources then they don't deserve the care, imo.
