Health Unit Coordinator/Unit Secretary question

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hello AllNurses Im new to the site. I understand this site is mainly for nurses, though other health professions also post questions as well. I recently became employed at a childrens hospital as a HUC on a busy unit, however its only part time, about 3 days a week and no weekends. It isnt nearly enough money for me right now and I plan to go back to school later. I have interviewed at my local Hooters and they offered me a part time position. Would it look bad for me to take it? It would only be on the weekends, (I dont work weekends at the hospital), and maybe 1 day out of the week so I dont see a problem? Should I tell my manager or would I be able to get away with it? Also would that look bad? Im a new employee and I dont want to be fired for doing this on the side...:crying2::uhoh3:

Specializes in ED.

Personally I don't think it would be any of their business, of course it would probably eventually come out, but I don't think its something they would fire your over. If your boss asks, just say you need a second job for the income and leave it at that.

As far as your resume, you aren't required to list it if you don't want to.
