Hi All! I am an RN in Home Health and Hospice... I know, what the heck am I doing here?! I am in the last class of my RN-BSN course and have to do a "field experience" in public health. I chose to shadow the school nurse of one of my town's elementary schools. I will start at the end of this week. I will eventually have to come up with a paper topic, specific to a health need or learning need of this population. I would like any input from elementary school nurses on what you believe to be the most challenging health need of these children and why. Thanks in advance!

challenges for health needs in school aged children:
poor diets
lack of follow up health care
lack of health insurance/ money to get proper health care or medications
clueless parents
helecopter parents that fail to teach children coping skills
poor oral hygiene, visits to dentist too infrequent
