Health First Melbourne area hospitals

Published

Does anyone work for any of the Health First hospitals in the Melbourne area? Any idea what the average pay is for RN? Patient ratio? Any opinions on the area and the hospital in general would be appreciated.

Specializes in OB.

Can't tell you about ratios or pay since I'm not an RN yet and the ratios I'm sure vary depending on units, but I can tell you that Health First is a wonderful organization to work for. Been here for almost 5 years and it is my plan to stay once I graduate next year.

Thank you. Anyone else who might work there as an RN have anything to contribute?

The pay is about $22 give or take (shift differential make a big difference) and the ratio is anywhere from 4-6 I believe

I worked for Health First Cape Canaveral about 5 years ago now. Don't know how it's changed since then (or if it has) but I loved working there. It's a smaller hospital and everyone knows everyone else. I never had more than 6 patients and we always had a CNA. It was busy but there was really good teamwork. I eventually worked float pool and even as a float nurse people treated me as part of the team. It's a beautiful location, too. As an experienced nurse I think I was paid $27 for per diem (therefore no benefits) before differentials.
