Hi. I have taken on a new role as the Health & Safety rep on my ward. I am at a little bit of a loss as to what sorts of things to do within the role. So far I have been in touch with H & S at the hospital and I have done a questionnaire which I gave to all the nurses on the ward. The charge does not really have any ideas of the scope of the role. I would love any ideas so I can do the role effectively on a ward level. Thanx.

Tempting fate, are you a union rep? They should train you. Access as much information on H&S law, required standards for employers, and for employees. Does your employer have a designated person responsible for H&S? Does your Govt. have any kind of enforcement arm? eg. UK Health and Safety Executive.
