Hawaii Travel Nursing

Hey guys. I am new to this, so I hope I am posting in the correct spot. My husband was offered a job in hawaii and I am thinking about doing a travel assignment if we move. Is anyone currently a traveler in hawaii or a local nurse in hawaii. I am concerned with pay. I was qouted around $28/hr, which is less than I make in Georgia. I have been an RN for 12 years. I would greatly appreciate any advice you guys have.

If you move, why not take a staff job? Hawaii is unionized and it pays better than travel. Also, since you are moving there, you are not eligible for any tax free pay from agencies.

Thanks. It is hard researching Hawaii pay on the internet. Every website is different. I was hoping a staff nurse would be paid decent, but wasn't sure. I would much rather have a permanent position for the security, but I thought traveling might be worth a try.

Considering Hawaii's consistent use of travelers, getting a staff position should be straightforward. Look on hospital websites for open positions. Get the process started before you leave.

Will do! Thanks for the advice. It's great having these kind of forums to get information. Helps out tons.

Hi hwishka,

I am interested to work in Hawaii for a 3-6 months contract. Would you tell me about your work experience in Hawaii?

Thank you.
