look into attending ccp or some other community college in the philly area. try not working full-time while doing your preqs. if your current gpa *are* your preq grades, then i suggest you retake those classes that nursing programs requires such as a&p, nutrition, biology, chemistry, micro, psych/child development, etc that you've done poorly on. you can either audit those classes at the same college or simply take them over at another college/university. either way, it will show that you've matured & are committed in furthering your education/career goals. after showing improvement, apply to any university (if you're looking for your bsn); otherwise, apply to the school of nursing you're interested in.
another option you have are diploma programs. i'm not sure what they require in terms of gpa, but you can look into it. try this google link, this one, this one, &/or this one. i also came across this & this link from allnurses.com.
i'm not sure just how far you're willing to travel in the philly area, but here are some philly diploma schools:
frankford hospital's; northeastern hospital's; roxborough hospital's ; temple hospital's; & finally, methodist hospital's (via thomas jefferson university school of nursing) which has *no* preqs requirement...just have to take & pass the net (nurse entrance test).
here are a few neighboring nj schools as well:
helene fuld; our lady of lourdes; atlantic cape community college; cumberland community college; gloucester county college has two ways for entrance: 1st is the generic, & 2nd is the advanced placement pathways for lpns or others in the healthfield such as paramedics/emts like yourself.
hope these links help ya somewhat!!! good luck to ya ~ cheers,
