Why don't you spend sime time volunteering at an elementary school and at a hospital and see what environment and work is most appealing to you? There are careers within nursing that allow for some flexibility in schedules or even a more "normal" schedule. Like working in a Dr office or working in nurse case management. Both can be rewarding careers, just see what feels like a better fit for you.

I took a health professions course my junior year of high school and that's when I decided that I wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse or a pediatric nurse. However I am now a sophomore in college, and I'm having my doubts about pursuing a career in nursing and becoming a teacher instead. Working in a hospital requires working nights as well as holidays, and I don't want to have to miss out on important family memories, and if I'm a teacher I'll get nights, holidays, weekends and summers off... At the start of the semester I also found out that I will be getting my BSN in 5 years instead of 4 because I didn't take classes that I was supposed to in the correct order so I feel like that really discouraged me. I've always been a straight A student as well and I know some of my prerequisites are going to be challenging so I fear that I won't get high enough grades and in the end I won't be accepted into the nursing program. I know I want to work with babies or children, but I'm having a lot of self doubt. Has anyone else felt like this and then stuck with it and ended up content with their decision?
