I have seriously thought and lately have kept a journal. So many wonderful, funny and downright nutty stories. :redbeathe ALl of those emoticons can be seen in a day with my group.
I have had some amazingly funny stories.....
One lady who was in a coma and actively dying ( was on a morphine pump hadn't eaten in days, been comatose for days.. ) woke up during my last visit with her. She was shockingly semi coherant and said some very important things.. including goodbye to her kids. She told me thank you for taking care of her! She told her kids who were there how much she loved them. She also went on to talk about her son who wasn't there. "I love him too, and his wife... please don't ever tell her this, I can't stand her, but for his sake, I love her too.". I wrapped up my visit and this lady died later that evening.. amazing story, only one where someone come OUT of a coma.
I was traveling around an affluent area near our office one weekend shift. I was due to be at the patients home at 3pm for an admit. I got to the complex just before 3pm. No parking anywhere. NO public parking, no street parking.. it was a nightmare. I called the patient's home and asked if they had a spare inside spot. I was driving around for the better part of 20minutes before 3. It was 3 now and I had NO where to park. To make it worse. the college down the street had a sporting event going on and so any spot that would normally be open was not. THs potential patient daughter got on the phone. Here is how the conversation went. ' Hello this is Noey56RN form XYZ Hospice and I cant seem to find any parking"."I have been around the block 5 times, and there is no public parking thanks to the college and it's football game". Dtr.. "Oh, well, we normally have two spots inside, but one of our friends just got here and took the spot". " I know how the parking is today from her". "She isnt going anywhere.. can you just come back tomorrow?" Me. "Excuse me'?? Dtr, "Our friend just got here and she isn't going to move for you". Me"ok, but please in the future can you please secure a parking space for your medical professionals at xyz hospice. I have to document this conversation and by the way... is your mom ok?" DTR " Yes.. she is, she can wait until tomorrow. " Shocking but true this happened just like this..
Or the comment.. My husband is taking me home. I do NOT want to go by ambulance. My husband is in the cafeteria eating. He isn't as alert as me and can be quite feeble minded.. Me " Are you sure you want him to take you home".. LOL

Those are some neat and funny stories! Thank you for sharing them with us. Maybe you should write a book!

I have often thought that my experiences would make a great book. It is especially incredible the way people seem to time their deaths to coincide with holidays, birthdays, family visits.
