I've been an OR nurse for over 3 years (worked med/surg for 16 years before that), and I'm about to start my first travel assignment. I found out I have to take the PBDS, and am a bit nervous about it. I see other people mention it for Med/surg, Critical Care, and OB, but I'm wondering if there is once specific for the OR?

I had an OR travel assignment last summer and had to take the PBDS. I was nervous about taking it, since the OR is so specific depending on what service you do, etc. I didn't prepare for it in anyway and I passed with no problem. There are some medications on the test that I had never heard of, and I didn't feel it was very specific to the OR. It was a mix a pre-op, perioperative, and PACU.
FYI: There is really no way to prepare for it. My advice is to make sure you read the questions correctly. Some people who tested with me made silly mistakes by not reading the question correctly. Good luck!!
BTW: I am looking for an OR travel assignment with no luck. What company are you with?
I am with TGHealthcare out of Omaha, and have a really awesome recruiter, Melissa, who got me my assignment going to Oklahoma City next week. This will be my first time traveling, and I think it was kind of difficult getting an assignment. There was about 2-3 times that she had submitted me for something, and the hospital was supposed to call, and then never did. Does that happen a lot? I was beginning to think it was me.
