Hello:
To anyone that could help me. I just recently had a bartholin abscess. I'm a nursing student and have yet to hear of these god awful conditions. I had it drained and a word catheter put in place. As of right now, I don't know much more than that about them. I'm terrified to pee, have sex, etc, etc, after the catheter is removed. I was wondering if anyone knew anything more about them or could lead me in a direction where I could find more information about them.
THANKS!!!!
Painfully,
Ladydame

The Bartholin's glands are located near the lower lady partsl opening. A Bartholin's gland abscess is fairly common, I believe, and usually heals without complication, from what I remember from my women's health text.
For more information, key in "Bartholin's gland" on google or another search engine. I just did, and got quite a few hits.

Like said above, this is fairly common and treatable USUALLY with antibiotics. If this problem persists your gyn has things he/she can do to help you. I am sorry this is happening to you. It does indeed, sound quite painful. Feel better soon.
