Have Anyone Taken the Accelerated CNA Class @ HCC Continuing Ed

Published

Has anyone taken the accelerated CNA class at Hillsborough Community College Continuing Ed dept at Ybor City? If you have, how was it? How was the clinicals? Were you able to get a job later? What is the salary at a hospital and nursing home for a CNA with no experience? Thanks

It's a shame no one has responded. I'm seriously considering taking the CNA accelerated course at HCC Continuing Education Center in January 2011 and would love to hear from someone who has taken their course.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have taken the course not really knowing that there were options besides HCC in the area. I was extremely disappointed with the program. The administrator did not have a set instructor and, honestly, I have been learning proper procedure from online videos because procedures were never properly explained in class. By the way, you are paying for only 3 class sessions. After that, you do around 24 hours of hospital work at UCH. They consider class time, the time you spend doing the common-sense quizzes online. The textbook they give you seems outdated and the videos you watch in class (pretty much all you do in class) are too. They are also sometimes irrelevant. Their lab is non-existent and their equipment is lacking. All in all, I would say that it is not a good program for the price so I suggest you look for training elsewhere.

I would suggest Quality Health Care Training Academy. It was one of the places where you can take the Prometric exam. I saw on their website that you can register for training there. They seem more put together. I know it is hard to look for places for training but they are out there so look around but don't spend your money on HCC's program. They're terrible.
