I'll be starting college in the fall to receive my ADN &my first option is working in the L&D unit. But I don't want to be closed minded on other areas just yet. But its my first choice. I wondered if there was any RNs that work in Labor& Delivery but also work in the Nursery? Do they switch off? How does that work? If so I believe I would want to do this.

Every hospital is different. There are some places the nurses work one and others you float to all and other you float to some. So you could end up in the delivery room, post partum, nursery, ante partum...and even some places you can end up pulled to peds and/or NICU. You can work some place you float to all and some you float to a couple and some you never float.

It just varies so much and depends on the hospital.

Ahh, okay I see now. Thank You for your feedback.:)
