Hate politics in nursing

Published

I'm a nurse that had manager who disliked me and tried to get me fired . I ended up leaving after 4 years . This experience broke my heart especially after working in same hospital for over 15 years. Several new younger nurses were hired and very cliquey . Of course, I was targeted . They were friends with this manager. I've been trying to get rehired at this hospital (different unit)  but no luck . I feel as though this evil manager had spread the word not to hire me . Has this happened to anyone? It's an awful experience. I managed to get another job with a very good manager but the NA's are really mean and lazy. There is also a charge nurse who doesn't like me and I'm having anxiety because of my past experience. Why is nursing so toxic ?

I can commiserate with you, Frito lay, in that I was being harassed at a hospital where I had worked for 7 years, waged a complaint through the chain of command, but it didn't bode well, so, I quit. The Dept. of Employment Security ruled in my favor, and I got benefits.

Nursing is toxic because it's a stressful field in which to work and when under stress, those with poor coping mechanisms resort to animalistic behavior, like chickens who have pecking parties.

The best we can do is to pursue our own personal happiness by being at peace with ourselves. External gratification feels good in the short run, but being a person of integrity, comfortable with who we are and how we behave, will get us through troubled waters.

The best to you.
