Has anyone taken online icu exam for travel requirement?

Published

I'm starting with a new company; Nurse Choice. Anyone know anything about them? One requirement for my next travel assignment is an online ICU exam. The assignment is for a Medical Telemetry unit. I don't understand why I need to take an online ICU exam. I have test anxiety.(like most people)

What should I do? Help:eek: How do I prepare to take an exam in unfamiliar

territory?

I'm in L&D and have had to take online exam with every company I've worked for in the past 7 years. They're really not that horrible, just take a deep breath and you'll be fine. The one's I've taken are pretty basic. Good luck!

Specializes in ICU/CCU/ER/CVICU.

The assignment in Indiana is for relief in their ICUs while the regulars all go to school for a new computer charting program. Everybody starts Aug 7 for 4 weeks. Should be interesting.

The wolf

I have frequently taken online tests, to assess my knowledge base, for assignments.

I would rather take an online test to assess that my knowledge is adequate, before trekking several hundred/thousand miles, to get my assignment cancelled because my knowledge is not adequate for the position.

This said, I have just been cancelled for a contract where I passed all the tests, including one I was told had not been passed on the first try in 2 years. Those who had not passed lasted longer than I did, though I am told are unhappy.

I have just signed on with NurseChoice. I have been an ER nurse for 20+ years. I have to take only the ER test & a medication test. The ER test was an ER test. If you have a calculator to calculate very basic math & a current med book, the test will be easy. The medication test was more of a challange since an ER nurse does not d/c drips, calcutate PAC pumps etc. My recruiter said it was OK to have a friend sit close beside because in most working environments you have another RN to bounce questions off. Of course, if you live in Montana, as I do, a lot of facilities have only 1 nurse & an LPN most of the time.

Gook luck. You will do fine
