Has anyone taken the Hesi before taking the Nclex-Rn?

Published

I have a few questions. I just started the RN program & on our first day of orientation we had to take a hesi practice test. I scored a 674. I feel so dumb when I know that I'm not.:o At the end of the year, we must pass the Hesi with at least an 850 to be able to take the nclex-rn.

Have any nursing student out there taken the practice hesi test at the beginning of the year to see where you are with your nursing knowledge and failed and then turn around and passed it at the end of the year?

What's the difference between Hesi and Nclex-RN? Whatever info. you guys give me, I would be very grateful.

I would love to hear from everyone including moderators.

im so sorry roro13, i typed up this huge reply and somehow erased it before it was posted. let me try this again til i get it right.

ok that one worked. did you by any chance get the long one that i typed up earlier? i cant seem to find it on this site anywhere, i must have deleted it. let me now ok?

Nope I didn't get it.

If you scored aover a 600 on a practice HESI you will be fine. There were people who took the actual HESI and did not score that high.

I wouldnt expect that someone just starting a program would be able to score much better. Not really sure what the need for it at entrance would be but i guess you can look at it this way, you will be able to measure your increased knowledge at the end of your program by comparison of the two scores.

I have not yet taken the HESSI for the RN program but I did have to take it in the LVN program. We took a practice HESSI at the end of the fall semester then the real deal in mid spring. I think if you got a 600 and have only just started the program (way to go!!) that you are going to do very well in the program on the HESSI and on the BOARDS. My practice HESSI score was 865. My actual HESSI score in the spring semester was 1045. I had no problem passing my boards even though I was scared to death after I took them. I am now in the LVN to RN bridging program and will be taking the practice HESSI for RN in the fall.
