Has anyone been referred for mental health?

Published

I recently attempted suicide at work. I used waste meds and was found in the bathroom. Everyone believed I was getting high, which I did not dispute because I was worried they would place me under a psych hold. I did consent to blood and urine drug screen (was told if I didn't, I would be sedated), and the blood screen will be positive.

I have been referred to our board of nursing. I am 100% guilty, but I did not know if I should disclose that I do not have a substance use disorder. I am in therapy, and have an amazing support system, so I am handling this surprisingly well.

I just don't know if I should disclose that it was a suicide attempt. I have not heard from the board yet, and am worried if I am honest that I will be forced into some psychiatric facility (which terrifies me).

*Imagine you are in your home, minding your own business, and someone kicks down your door, when suddenly 5 "professional" looking people storm in, with a frenzy of organized chaos.

Let's call them 1-5 for simplicity.  1 has a Video Camera and starts live feed filming everything you do 24/7.  2 has a Word Processor, and starts verbatim typing everything said, 3 has a list of papers for you to sign, agreeing to all these things happening for the next FIVE years of your life (including them following you to the bath and bedroom- yes), 4 Starts instructing you to do very complex and confusing tasks that must be done with a 100% pass rate, and has no sense of humor or mercy, and an intimidating stance and stare.  5. Says, "Look at me, keep your eyes on me, only talk to me, I will talk to them,… they don't play.  You'll pay me more than a German Sedan is worth new,- but I am worth it, or you can stay and "Party it up" with 1-4, sans me.

1-4 are the State Board of Nursing, hahaha.

5 is your Attorney.

You will grow the strongest disdain for all 5, LOL, but the 4 is nearly unbearable.

I faced them twice, once over a free clinic patient complaint, and once over a complex Oversea Issue that would give my identity away, LOL.  The second time was with an Attorney, and it was worth every Penney.

A. LVN/LPN and On.

B. Lawyer Up (And there's great resources on here for a RECOMMENDED attorney).  A bad one is just as bad as (OK, almost as bad as not having one).  That said, I'd take an "OK" one any day over facing them again myself.

C.  If everything else is ignored, don't think they (BON) are "Understanding,” will possess Common Sense, will 100% hear you out, will give you "The Benefit of the Doubt,” or think they have "No Real Evidence Against You.”  It's not a court.  You aren't protected from Opinions, HEARSAY, slanders, witness vetting/credibility, or blatant lies.

*This is how it "feels,” and though this was a 'Satire,’ and meant to inject humor into something almost to scary to imagine- the serious advice is Never Speak to the Board.  Someone should be speaking to the Board for you, Always.
