I was wondering if anyone has precepted in the ER. I basically want to know if you think you got enough "Nursing" experience, compared to possible doing a Med-Surg preceptorship. For example, did you get enough assessment skills? patient care skills? Not just doing some CPR and hooking people up to monitors and administering meds (and of course the excitement of the ER, when it's not dead).

I have just started my preceptorship in the ER. I am at a small ER on a military base & last night was my first night. It was kind of slow compared to what I thought it would be like, now it could just be that it was a slow night or maybe that's how it normally is. There are LOTS of IV starts, VS, & for me improving on my charting. I have my next shift Wednesday night so I will let oyu know if it's any different or not.
