The hospital laid a lot of GNs off this week. I know some of them. They were hired in February.
Whatt!? that's crazy! They are struggling that badly to lay off their not as highly paid nurses?

Paper says they laid off 459 people just in March not to mention the ones done earlier this year.

I'm not to sure of what to think now with laying off new nurses. It's tough because there are so many new graduates trying to get into a residency program and there are very minimal spots in all these hospitals; even with Houston having such a large medical center. Once one can get a year behind them I believe they are pretty much set. The tough part is getting that first year......

Nothing, at this point I am wondering if they are even gonna hire any new grads this round with all of the layoffs and how long it has been.

Hi! I spoke with someone at the TMC hospital at St. Luke's. They basically had to recalculate all their job openings and, as I was told, "they won't be hiring many" as a result. But they are planning to still call us and update us as soon as they do their recalculations and get more info!
Anything this week for anyone?
I'm hearing it will be close to the 17th. Nurse told me that a lot of the St. Lukes employees will be heading to new Methodist in Woodlands.
I heard that no decisions have been made and now they are unsure as to when they will be...
Has anyone heard anything yet?
Nothing...
HR contacted me this week to see if I was still interested in the position and said they would let me know either way by end of next week
