I went ahead and did the Kaplan's review course ($$$) and found their strategies very helpful... during class. But when I go to take practice questions on my own, it seems that I can't use the same strategies as much as I was able to during the class... Anyone find Kaplan's to be the key to their success? (Besides hardcore studying, of course!)

Hi, saw your thread, and yes I agree with you Kaplan is somewhat over rated and $$ I did not find it as helpful
as I wished, I ended up buying into Drexel CD's and Text and found that most helpful and SUCCESSFUL
Oh, really?.... They were saying the pass rate for those who took the course was 93%. Ugh. I'm so terrified of this test! I want to find just the right thing to help me pass! I haven't heard of Drexel. Is it expensive? Thanks for the response.
Yes if you buy from them direct, ,I think with out checking my visa bill it was something like 400.$ for 18 CD
The CD's cover everything, from Maternity, Peds, Psych, drugs, takes about 30 hrs to go thru the whole set
and then there is a large, and I mean very large text with test..questions to go along with it
Check it out on line...Drexel University and see what you think there is a short clip of what you get
Good luck when do you write?
Hmm... that reminds me. I have a friend that told me about her using a system like that (cds or dvds). I remember she told me she had a whole bunch of cds. Let me ask her if that's what she used. Thanks for the offer! My exam is scheduled for the 5th of Feb.

I actually just bought the Kaplan book. As I was reading it everything seemed to make sense with the practice questions and how they explained it but I found it a lot harder for me to use their techniques by myself especially since the rationales wouldn't let me which technique they used. I have heard really good things about Kaplan and some bad things also. I thought the book would really have helped me but I was a little disappointed that I still have trouble answering questions.

I used Kaplan and found their strategies useful. I still need to use other resources though for content. I think they have good strategies but I think it's seriously overpriced.

I am starting Kaplan on Monday. Last year's graduating class out 33 students 30 passed the boards on their 1st attempt. Some students said it didn't help them, however my girlfriend who was in last years graduating class thought Kaplan was the best.
