Hi is anyone waiting to hear back if they got into Harcum Colleges 2015 part-time evening program? I am, and I would love to meet other students who are as well! :-)
Before you settle on a program look up it's NCLEX passing rates. There are 27 programs that train RNs in the state of PA. 13 schools are on provisional status with the BON because of low NCLEX scores. The NCLEX got much harder about a year ago and passing rates have been falling. You don't just want to survive school. You want to be able to pass the board exam.

Where can you find the list of schools with provisional status?
Never mind...found it.
Accreditation comes from ACEN, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, not the state board. I know Harcum had a visit from ACEN in the fall of '14. This is most likely why they are losing accreditation. They have had low passing NCLEX rates off and on for that past 3-4 years. They've been off and on warning status frequently for that, even prior to the metric change for passing. In any event, good call on transferring. Terrible program.
Definitely look into another program I was a recent student and they have a lot of mess going on . They will 99% lose accreditation in Apr '15. They change rules for some and not others last senior class on allowed 16 thru from 35 classmates due not getting 98% on predictor ati score but most of class passed with 94% and up and some people that graduated didn't meet 98% .. Go figure! So be very careful and it's a shame because it has potential to be a good school but unfortunately they too busy with messing with people. I am currently looking to transfer out

I completely agree with this post. I made the mistake of attending Harcum- luckily only for the first semester of the nursing program. The Dean of the program explained they will most likely lose accreditation by April (due to NCLEX scores continuously being low). I dropped the second semester immediately after I heard the news, and was lucky enough to be able to transfer into the second semester at another college. I suggest anyone who plans to attend Harcum to rethink their decision, or at least proceed with caution. It is almost impossible to find a job after graduating from an unaccredited program, and even more difficult to transfer into an RN-BSN program. Good luck everyone!
