Hands cuts and bandaids?

Published

Occasionally I will get a cut on my hand, which then is a portal of entry for who knows what at the hospital. I'll cover it up with a bandaid, but with all the handwashing and such, it comes off all the time so I'm constantly changing it. I even tried those waterproof bandaids which stay on a little longer, but it's not that much better. I'm just curious as to what some of you do when you do get a cut

I either just deal with the bandaid issue, or I use Dermabond if I can get my hands on some. ;)

Dermabond or (since dermabond is a charge thru purchasing), if it's a finger I'll just wrap a piece of tegaderm around the bandaid to help it stay. Works pretty well. There is also a J&J liquid bandaid over the counter that words pretty much like dermabond, which is good for wounds a piece of tegaderm won't stick on.

I carry a spray on bandaid product....Curad brand usually....I have it in my

work bag so that when I do get cuts or my fingers split ope....or whatever

I spray it and immediately am protected....sometimes I have to spray again

when it starts to wash off...but it lasts quite a while....stops the pain, stops

the germs, makes the area heal faster.

I've tried the 'liquid' bandaid stuff that you paint on....it really burned me. I have psoriasis on my hands and when the skin splits it splits pretty deep. Does the Curad spray on sting on open cuts? I'd love to try it if it doesn't!! Right now, like the previous poster said, I just deal with the bandaids falling off. Another thing I do, and it seems to last quite a while for me, is put steri-strips on. I've had them last through MANY hand washings!! They just look dirty after a while, so I end up replacing them. Good luck!

I like the tegaderm and bandaid aid. It drives me crazy when the bandaid keeps falling off, but then again I hate soggy bandaids :p I've never tried the spray before. Hmm maybe I'll have to experiment... well ha not that I want a cut or anything

Yes, the Curad spray stings when you first put it on...just for a few seconds...but that is much better than the pain of a cut that does

not stop.

I have also cut bandaids in strips and used just the plastic part

...like a steristrip...but eliminates opening something that is

chargeable.....

i'll vouch for dermabond - its fantastic stuff! when our or drops one off a sterile field, or somehow its no longer sterile, it is immediately commandeered for staff cuts. for obvious reasons, bandaids are something we cannot use at all, and open cuts are unacceptable for someone who scrubs.
