Handling Panicky Feeling Before First Shift Each Week?

I've been on my own for a few months now, and some weeks I feel incredibly panicky before a shift. I try to limit caffeine intake on these evenings. I feel somewhat disoriented and nervous. I have a PRN medication that I'm prescribed for panic attacks, but it's not something I feel comfortable taking before work. Anyone in a similar situation? Tips/tricks? I hate dreading work so much and know I'm not the only one in this position.
