Hamot/Gannon School of Anesthesia

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hi Everyone!

I am new to this site, but was wondering if anyone is interviewing at Hamot/Gannon at the end of the month? Or if anyone had interviewed their previously and had any comments/suggestions on the interview? Thanks. I apppreciate it!:specs:

I also am interviewing at the end of the month (next week) and have no clue what to expect for the interview. I called the school and they told me that it would be "a bunch of little interviews". I imagine this means each room they will focus on something different and then probably use a point system.

I hope to be interviewing this year. Any tips?

Hi KBS1299, I too hope to be interviewing this year and would like to hear about others experiences. Where are you from?

I'll be coming up from Virginia. Do you know if you have an interview yet? I submitted my app just under the wire, so I haven't even gotten a confirmation of receipt email yet.. I have spoken with the secretary so i know they got it. Do you have ACLS and PALS and everything else already? I lack PALS and really hope that I am able to interview despite that. We shall see I suppose....

I'll be coming from Dayton, OH.. Yeah I have PALS already and should have my CCRN by mid September, but I think that may be after their interviews? I think the interviews are set for Aug. 22nd.. Do you (or anyone reading this) know how many students are accepted each year? Also, still looking for interview information/tips... Thanks!!

Scott

This year I read somewhere that they are accepting 20 students. I am eager to interview but nervous as well. Not sure what I should study up on....

I am interviewing on the 22nd also. I have heard that they take 20 students. Interview consists of a tour and then you interview with a panel of CRNA's, SRNA's and Physicians in different rooms. They ask alot of personal stuff and the clinical questions should be based on your nursing backgound.

Hello Beester.. I did not yet receive a call to interview I just noticed on their site that the interviews appear to be scheduled for the 22nd. When did you receive the call/email inviting you to interview?? Thanks.. and GOOD LUCK!!

I had all of my information in by the end of July. I received my email invitation to interview a few days later. I had been down to the school a few times to hand deliver pieces of information to complete my folder and I also called a couple of times to make sure they had everything. A friend of mine said she knew of a couple of people that got into the program last year who had overnight delivered their apps. the day before they were due. Hopefully you will hear something this week. Good Luck!

PM me I can answer any questions anyone has....

I couldn't find an icon to PM so I guess I will just my questions here. I have the interview on the 22nd and am not quite sure what to expect. What should I be focusing on as far as studying goes for the interview? My background is ED/TC nursing 15+ years. I spoke to some CRNA's that went through the program and also some SRNA's that attend now and they all say that they will ask questions related to the area you work. Is it too much for me to try and focus on learning more about swan ganz monitoring and other areas that I don't know alot about or should I just brush up on the things that I know already?

I am making myself crazy! I think that by Saturday my mind will be mush when they start talking to me anyway. (LOL)

Any sugestions would be appreciated! Thanks a lot.

Beester
