Had to withdraw A and P the first time, taking it the second time but still didn't get a good grade?

Published

I had to withdraw from A and P when I first took it in the fall semester of 2018 due to a tragic family event occurring.

I retook it for this semester and am currently stuck at a D. I emailed the head department but they told me I would need to wait a whole year in order to take it again unless I took this General Biology course in the summer semester. However, if I do that, it's like a waste of 500 bucks and as well as time to finish A and P before I possibly start my nursing program in January 2020 at UFV which only requires high school classes as prereqs for applying.

I don't want to have to take A and P as a part of the nursing program once Im enrolled as that will be too much for one semester alongside 3-4 other courses.

I was hoping to take it at VCC but they require a C+ in Biology 11 as a prereq for this course and I had a C.

Any advice, suggestions?

Wow. I'm sorry that happened to you but just know there's no shame in waiting longer to start a nursing program. More time is better to really prepare yourself but if I were you I would retake it at VCC so you can attempt it ASAP. I failed anatomy and then retook it a year later at a different college and got an A so it is possible. A and P is a really important pre-req so whereever you take it just study and focus so you can really learn and do well. I would also recommend taking one science course per semester.

What if You "Withdrawn" from a PreReq like Microbiology, does it hurt me when applying to nursing programs.
