Had entrance interview today (got accepted!) some concerns

Published

Hey,

So I took the Erie 1 boces entance exam on Dec 14th and found out last week I passed. I guess I just have to brush up on multiplying and dividing decimals. I did well on the critical thinking part which she said is more difficult, so she said she knew I could do the math. I think alot of it was being rushed. Anyways, I went to for my interview earlier today, and it was nothing that I expected. I stayed up late trying to get my computer to work to print out resume (thought be nice idea), and never got it to work and went to library and it was closed due to heating problems. The director said didnt need it anyways. So I thought theyd ask why want to be a nurse etc. I wasnt asked anything. I mean I think had to write a little something on application before I took the exam. She very briefly went over some stuff not everything. When I left I wasnt even sure if I was accepted. I asked about an acceptance letter, and she said your accepted, and if you need a copy I could get it to you. The only thing is I really wanted days (8am-2)! I mean it woulda interfered with the every other Monday I currently work since school/clinicals are Mon-Thursday but I still think it would have been better than what it would be like going for nights (4-10). I do work days 7am-3pm so you would think nights would be better but not really. See I work part time rotates every other week Mondays Fri Sat Sun. If went nights would have like an impossible schedule! Half way through the program you switch locations (in most cases) depending if you do April days/nights, or Oct days/nights. They said even if your 5 mins late it counts as half an hour and your only allowed to miss 28 hours in 6 months I believe between class and clinicals. The program is like pretty much a year straight through, besides a day here and there you get off. I know theres no way I could get up super early for work (I dont sleep very well), be to work before 7 and get out around 305 if Im lucky and make it class/clinicals far away by 4. Or go to class/clinical and get home late and be up at 5 to work the next day. So Im hoping that I could work something out so I can go to school days. Im just dissapointed becasue April days are full and long waiting list (only 14 spots at the one location they're using), April nights almost full. October days 50 spots (i dont get why so much difference). So I really would like to start in April, but its very unlikely I would be able to get in. Then I would have to wait for October days. I guess that would give me more time to get car on road and save, but pushed me back 6 months graduating. Then would have to wait to get papers to even sign up for NCLEX-PN and then take it and find a job. So yeah idk. I did go to college before (graduated in Dec 2010) have an A.A.S. in Medical Assisting. Im wondering how I would apply for job while waiting for license. I heard sometimes they hire you as a medical assistant until you get your licence. Im not sure if you just apply for the LPN job though? So thats my dilemma.
