Hello! Good luck to everyone applying! I’m currently in the program now. I remember the anxiety applying and just thought I’d try to help with any questions yall have! Last year the stats the competitive stats were 3.6 GPA and 83 and above on the Kaplan. They take both into consideration. It’s 50/50.

Hi! I know this post is old but I am applying for 2023. When you say GPA, do you mean overall GPA or GPA from the prerequisites listed on the application (sciences, english, math and psych)?

Hi! Just the ones listed…the sciences, math, English, and psych.  Around 3.5….You also want to aim around 85 on the Kaplan. Some do get in with lower but that’s around what they look for

You’re welcome! Good luck!

Hi! I have applied to the program for 2023. Wanted to see if anyone who's been in the program can tell me how they liked it, advice, things you bought that helped with clinicals...etc.

So I am a 2nd semester student. The first semester was pretty rough for us because we had a professor that never taught before and she was teaching pharm. It was also kind of disorganized but not horrible. Some students went to the dean. We have really nice professors this time around.

The only things you need to buy for clinical will be a stethoscope, all white leather shoes, black scrub pants and a small notebook. The school will give you a lab bag and you will need to the clinical top from a vendor.

I would have liked to have our syllabus prior to the start of the semester.

There is an 8 hour orientation day called LEAP Day where they will give you a lot of information and you will meet your professors. That happens about a week before class starts.

The best advice is don't go crazy buying resources now. Everybody is selling study guides! Wait and see how you adjust to the material and then see what you will need. I know it's tempting to buy everything now.

When you start pharm- Nexus Nursing on YouTube is your BEST FRIEND. She will get you right. I would start watching her prior to the start of the semester. The first drugs we did were for test 2 were Antiinflammatory, Antarthritics, and Related Agents; Muscle Relaxants; Narcotics, Narcotic antagonists, and Antimigraine Agents; Antiinfective Agents; Antibiotics; Antiviral Agents; Antifungal Agents; Antiprotozoal Agents.

Like I said, it's A LOT of reading and critical thinking. Don't try to memorize.

You are a saint! I have heard some stories similar to yours about it being a little disorganized. Thank you for all the information, I definitely have my amazon list full of things, so VERY good to know. How is the schedule like? Obviously, nursing school is demanding and time consuming, but overall is it the 2 days a week and then clinicals (which I heard you can switch days if there is someone willing to)?

Classes are on Tuesday from 9-12 and 1-4; lab can be either Wednesday of Thursday either 2 hours in the morning or 2 hours in the afternoon and then your clinical day. If you have a scheduling conflict, you will need to find someone to switch. It is definitely time consuming with lots of reading. You should learn dimensional analysis and ration/proportion for med math. There will be a test about 3 weeks in and you need a 90 to pass.

I am on it. Thank you so much for all the advice. I wish you well! You deserve to be there, so keep your head up and keep killing it!
