Hi Gabby I'm 20 years old I'm a transfer student from Middle Ga. However I also went to trade school recently for 5 months since septemeber where I received a EKG and Phlebotomy certificate. I was at Middle Georgia For a year for the Nursing Program in Cochran. The reason for leaving is because it was 4 hours away the cost of tuition was high and I thought it would be better for me to come home and go to community college and work part time. I ended up going to a small trade school 10 minutes away from where I live. The trade school I went to was BS.. they were unorganized, told us our credits from their school would transfer which they didn't, our teacher harassed us, and many of our classmates ended up quitting so did I however I finished the program. We had to do a externship at a hospital or clinic to receive Pateint care tech and Medical Assistant certificate. I went to my local hospital in barrow county which was a big mistake. I was treated badly and instead of teaching us our cna teacher was having us do all of her work for free while she just sat there . One incident that made me quit was when they sent me to ICU to bath patients who could basically clean themsleves but I did it while my teacher and the nurses just sat and talk. And I got sick of it so I left. Now the hospital in my town has reputation of being the worst hospital ever and it's true. I seen nurses treating patients bad, gossiping about patients even nurses and doctors fighting. After that I applied to Gwinnett Tech. I'm taking 4 classes at Gwinnett tech in the Fall which is anatomy, fyes, humanities, and pysch 2103 and spring I'm taking micro and the second part of anatomy. I have 3.0 gpa from Middle Ga but when you transfer from a different school our gpa starts over. I'm really looking for someone to give me study tips so I can prepare myself for the Fall. I'm working as a part time assistant teacher because my dream job is to be a school nurse. I'm hoping to find someone to help me study and also be a mentor. At times I get discouraged and my family are always on me and even my mom is negative she tells me college is not worth I should quit. She constantly telling me . "You quit that externship you're not going to finish anything". Even said I quit my first college which I didn't I finished my freshman year at Middle Georgia and tranfer back home to go to closer to work and plus it's cheaper its saving me money in the long run. All of her negativity makes me question myself when I was away from her at my old college I didn't question myself. But deep down I know nursing is what I want to do. I love drawing blood, I love taking vitals and everything about it interest me. I want to fall back in love with it but since I been home its hard with all the negativity around me. So im hoping for some tips like i said to prepare for fall and a mentor or study partner I live in Winder and I'm a very nice sweet person. And im hoping to get accepted into the nursing program at Gwinnett Tech for 2018 and after that attend Georgia Baptist college of nursing for RN to BSN program as well.

Hi
This is my first post.
Application into the ADN program is in January.
In your case you will apply in January 2018 for Fall 2018 program.
You now have the following semesters to finish your prerequisites.
Fall 2016, Spring 2017, Summer 2017, and Fall 2017.
You also have Spring 2018 and Summer 2018 to take classes you may need for future BSN program.
You must take A&P 1 and 2, and Microbiology to apply.
Study and fill in your Lecture notes for the A&P 1 and 2.
Do the same for Lab notes. Watch the video that comes with the Lectures and fill in all the blanks.
Meet up with other students to fill in notes that you are not sure off and discuss among your A&P classmates.
Also if you can retake some classes to get you a better GPA than 3.0 that will help you get into the program as it is competitive.
You will need a GPA higher than 3.5 to get into the program.
It may be as high as 3.7, although this varies.
I hope this helps.

Applying for the Jan 15 2018 deadline. Im wondering if anyone knows if we round our GPA's to the tens or hundreds. If its tens its a 3.1 if its the hundreds its 3.10 because 3.095 is how its coming up on the calculator. Lol, I want my extra points.
Next Ill be taking the Kaplan, soon I took it like 3yrs ago and scored a 68 without studying and I know that we need a 75.... Do anyone have any great study tips or have taken it already.
Next Any old students with old GPA's and old KAT scores who would like to share and give tips about the program?

I got the Kaplan coming up this month, what did you study for the Kaplan? what kind of science questions were on there?
Also does anyone know what kind of schedule the actual program will be like? M-F? times? Just wondering b/c I work full time during days right now and cant really afford to just quit and go to school full time so just trying to think ahead...
I looked over the science part of the Kaplan but it didn't help much on test. The questions were very random. Reading and writing were like any other comprehensive exam. Math was fairly easy and basic. Fractions, percentages , conversions, pemdas. Simple questions addition and subtraction. The Kaplan book helped in the math section only if you look at basic math problems. There was no geometry on the exam and no overly hard word problems.
My scores were as follows:
reading 82%
math 86%
writing 76%
science 80%
overall 81%
critical thinking 81%
im going to retake the exam in January before submitting my application to try and improve a few points.
also i believe the program is pretty much full time and will take up any job schedule you have. Although i am not 100% sure I've had friends who couldn't have a part time job while in the program
