Hi All,
I'm applying to the Spring 2012 RN program in Panama City, Florida. Wanted to see if any others were planning on applying or if anyone is currently in the program.
How was pharm? Does you friend like the program? I haven't heard anything about it so i'm going in blindly. I was at Sandra Jean uniforms looking for a steth and they said they sell scrubs to GCSC students so she directed me to them. White top and royal blue pants, so I picked up a pair since we get 25% off. While I was there today I went to the bookstore and got the LAG and it tells you the syllabus for the class. Also picked up the freshman clinical kit. We need the same things as fall semster students so I am going by what was needed for them. The LAGS are used for spring semester as well so they have our schedule out. Book list is already out as well so I'm renting mine. We are required to have a blue or white name tag holder so I got one of those along with a blood pressure cuff today at SJ. Got my CPR and immunizations done as well. Only need my physical.
Wow, you have a HUGE jump start on me!! I didn't know half of the things you just told me~LOL! What are LAGS?? Is the book list available in the book store bc I've been renting my text books for the last 4 semesters from Chegg so if I can continue to do that, I will. Pharm was a ton of memorization and work, I'm glad I got it out of the way it was my first B from Gulf Coast tho He will tell you "as a rule I don't ask trick questions on exams"........well HE DOES!! He'll change one letter of the name or the condition among other things! But with that said he was one of my favorite profs at Gulf Coast, besides Gonshor for A&P. Chitwood (pharm prof) will also be in clinicals with us. My friend loves the program, she is in her third semester right now. She said first semester is VERY TOUGH, they try to weed out the weak ones! She has 3 kids (and so do I) and she said she basically said goodbye to them for 16 weeks. Which I'm scared to death, my kids are very involved in activities at school. But I've got a pretty good support system of friends and my husband and I should be fine :) So I'm prepared to study my butt off the first semester, but scared and excited at the same time.....I've wanted to do this for a very long time! So I take it I need to get busy and get all the supplies.....Yikes! It's gonna be here very quickly....
Hey, I am also applying for the Fall 2012 class.. I'm moving down this Spring from SD (my husband is in the Air Force and we're being stationed in Panama City). I got into the nursing program up here; however, we had to take the Kaplan Pre-Entrance Exam; I've never heard of the HESI A2 entrance exam before.. How is that test? The only part I'm really worried about is vocab and science.. Are the science questions really difficult?? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks, and congrats on your guys' acceptance!!
HESI is pretty easy, took it twice and scored a 92 on first try and 90 on the second.. they average it out so i got a 91 total. there is no anatomy or phys on the exam. i think a couple basic questions like body proximities.. vocab was a lot trickier the second time around!! she said they weigh heavily on the HESI and less on the GPA. I'm excited to start and good luck!

I was there earlier today too!! Where did you find a list of supplies needed?? I have only bought the Saunders NCLEX review and the Hesi NCLEX review, at the suggestion of a friend currently in the program. I did not know we could buy any supplies this early? I took pharmacology last semester so I wouldn't have to deal with it during the first semester!!
