Does anyone have helpful tips or strategies for distinguishing the different types of heart murmurs?

1.  Get the best stethoscope you can

2.  PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.  There are many audio recordings and YouTube videos availabe on the internet.  Practice on every person you can, including friends and family.  I even practiced on my dog!

3.  At least for me, I really sweated during the "hearing the heart murmur" labs during school.  However, once I started working as an NP, this became quite easy.  So relax and don't get too anxious about this.
