GSCC or Jeff State

Nursing Students School Programs

I've applied to both programs for the Fall of 2015. I have A's in all my Bios and made a 76.7% on my TEAS. I'm pretty confident I should be accepted to both programs but I am so torn on which to choose. Jeff state's Pell City campus is much closer to me than Gadsdens but I've been attending classes at Gadsden (Ayers and MCC campuses) on and off for a few years so I'm more comfortable there and I will know others in the program where as at Jeff State, I won't. Anyone have positive or negatives about either of the programs? Thanks so much!

I don't know anything about Jeff State but I'm in the program at Gadsden right now. I love it. The instructors are amazing, they work hard to make sure you understand procedures and are always there for you if you need to cry or vent or ask for advice. The pass rate for the GSCC students on the NCLEX is incredible. The program is hard but the instructors make it easier to deal with. Not sure how much that helps but it's something to go on! I understand wanting to be close, I live in Georgia so I drive an hour & a half to school. Just remember ... You can do anything for 2 years!

I just looked at their pass rates. They are at a 75% from last year, which is actually down from the previous two years. I wonder why. I am just really torn! I need someone to car pool with! lol

I don't know? I know they've changed some things around in our program, could be to make it better. You may luck up & find a carpool buddy! I did!

Hi! I am in the same boat as you, for Fall 2016. I have applied to the Pell City campus for Jeff State and Gadsden State. I have a good chance at getting into both programs, so I am trying to figure out which one is the best for me. Pell City is so much closer, but I have heard Jeff State is way harder. Which one did you choose? Any information at all would be helpful!

Hi there! I ended up choosing Gadsden State. I am officially a 2nd year nursing student now! It is definitely the hardest thing thing I have ever done in my life but I love it! There are some fantastic teachers there that have your back 110% and want to make you a great nurse. I'm very happy with my decision with choosing GSCC. I ended up there because I knew people going there. I fully believe you need a support system. I have 3 other girls I carpool with and they have been my rocks. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. :)

Thank you so much for replying! If you don't mind me asking, how many points did you have for Gadsden and when did you find out? I have 189 points. I am in the Talladega area and I just can't imagine driving that far every day, but from everyone I have spoken to, GSCC seems like the better choice. I know 2 or 3 people who are applying, so hopefully we can all get in and carpool like you suggested. Do you have any suggestions as to how I could prepare, something to study or review? I know I sound like a crazy person, but there is just so much to think about, lol!
