Lehigh Valley Hospital has a critical care graduate nurse program, so you are able to start in the ED or on critical care unit right out of school (and you can even start before you pass NCLEX). They provide you with 6 months of training, including an online program (ECCO by the AACN) that teaches you all the critical care components. I'm currently in this program. It is ok, I have my good days and bad days. My biggest complaint is that nurses that are your preceptors can be really mean (to me and the patients), and because of that I feel i am not learning anything. But like I said, I have good days and bad days. Good luck in your search.

Hi everyone,
I am a senior nursing student in NY and live in Bethlehem, PA.
When I graduate in May, I plan on working in eastern Pa and wanted to know great hospitals for ER and/or ICU nurses. Since there are so many crital care specialties I will most probably find myself in SICU, MICU or CICU.
I need to start looking, but the prospect of finding a job in a new state is more daunting than I had expected.
I would appreciate any and all responses as well as tips on settling in the area.
Thanks so much. I appreciate reading all of the responses and look forward to reading all of yours.
