I would say if possible, go straight to a BSN program. It will be quicker than ASN to BSN plus you dont have to deal with re-applying to BSN and you will have better chance of getting jobs. ASN grads are having an extreme difficult time with jobs. UNless of course, you go work in rural areas far from any city, then ASNs are hired more. But if you plan to work in a city, BSN makes more financial sense. Many people thought they will get their ASN RN first then get a job and then do BSN. However that hasn't been the case past few years...as very few if any ASNs get jobs and so they have to go to BSN right away without having an RN job to help with the cost. There's several affordable BSN programs in NYC including the CUNYs : HUnter, Lehman, City Tech.

I was wondering if anyone had issues transferring to a BS nursing degree program after getting their AAS from St. Paul's school of nursing? I was thinking about applying there but have heard horror stories and now I'm not sure.
