Graduating soon and scared!!!

Nurses General Nursing

Hey, I'm new to this site...first post. I need some advice. I live in Nevada and my boyfriend lives in the Sacramento area. I have always loved this area so it's even better that he's there. We've been together for 2 years and have an overall good relationship even though we've been doing a semi-long distance relationship. Anyway, I plan to move up there when I graduate in May and have already applied to California for my licensure. Problem is, he started a police academy which makes our situation of being apart etc., even harder. I haven't dealt with our lack of seeing eachother/talking time and it's been tough. Now I'm in a really scary place not only graduating but starting a new career and moving to a new place. I feel completely unsure about everything. Like I said, we have a good relationship but I'm now getting cold feet. I'm looking for help/opinions for my situation and wonder, worst case, what is the process of obtaining my Nevada license since I have already applied for my initial licensure through California. Any help is appreciated!!!

You've worked hard to complete your program.

I don't know about Nevada details for licensing, but would

think the information could be obtained from the licensing association

for nurses.

You have a lot on your plate all at once it is scary. With that said there are a lot of good places to work in Sac. Just choose wisely. I loved Shirners. Some of the outlying areas might be good to avoid. Roseville is not always the geatest hospital from what I continue to hear.

Mercy General I did some agency work there it was kind of iffy. I have heard less than favorable reports on regular employment there. I can't remember but I think (at least 3 years ago ) that folsom had some things to be desired too but My memory may be faulty on that, and it was 3 years ago. Sutter memorial and sutter general are pretty good. Maybe I do not know if I will get in trouble for speaking openingly about sepecific hospitals here. I hope not.

UCD has its good and bad points. My personal fave is Shrinners.

You took a lot on. It's only natural to feel scared and overwhelmed.

I would suggest that you make sure you are up to all of this at once so it doesn't interfere with graduating and exams.

Check this site to see if it helps you as far as the license in California and Nevada. I know agencies can get licenses very easy.

"The mutual recognition model of nurse licensure allows a nurse to have one license (in his or her state of residency) and to practice in other states (both physical and electronic), subject to each state's practice law and regulation. Under mutual recognition, a nurse may practice across state lines unless otherwise restricted. "

See if your resident state is in the list.

All in all you are starting out a true nurse - good job multi-tasking!

Hang in there!
