Graduating, Paperwork, BRN

U.S.A. California

Hi Guys!

I will be graduating this month from a school in CA! My school is very unhelpful with the application process, questions, etc...

So here are some questions..

Should I send in my application in now? I already filled it out, did my livescan, passport photos..everything!

Should I requests transcripts from every school I've been to? I read in some topics that they only needed transcripts from their nursing school (the school fills out all the prereqs with the transcript) and that was it..

I also took my A &P classes at a UC. My school had to specially approve my B series because it included human and vertebrate A & P (5+ unit course). Since the school approved it, will the BRN be okay with that? My professor fro my UC wrote and talked with my school about the specific learning require and then my school approved it..will the brn make me retake this!??

How long did it take everyone to get the letter saying they were okay to take the Nclex?

Thanks any help would be awesome :)

schools help students with their professional responsibilities for obtaining licensure? what, did you think they should get the paperwork, pass it out in lecture, and walk you through filling out the boxes? :uhoh3: this is your professional responsibility now.

is there some reason you can't do it yourself now? i mean, you're almost a college graduate ready to go out and take responsibility for other people's health and safety; surely you're competent to call the born and ask them these questions.

my, i am feeling cranky today:eek:. but honestly. somehow thousands and thousands of people did this for themselves for decades. i have every confidence that if you have what it takes to graduate from a university nursing program, you can ask the board how obtain your own dang license. this is not young-eating. think of it as "validation of your hard-won adult competence."

the letter will come...when it comes. if you think it's been too long, call them and ask.

Receipt of the eligibility letter to take the NCLEX normally takes 4-8 weeks. It took exactly 4 weeks for my letter to arrive, but I have known others who have gotten their letters in 8 weeks (the BRN can be quite finicky). An official transcript from your nursing school is all you need to submit. Once you receive your letter, you can promptly register with Pearson Vue, receive your ATT that same day, and schedule to take the NCLEX.

It's a shame that your teachers didn't at least explain the process to your class. It probably would've taken 10 minutes. The school that I attended walked us through the process. They got the paperwork, passed it out in lecture, and walked us through how to fill out the application. Needless to say, with NCLEX and finals coming up, it was a big help. In fact, I don't believe I even had to mail anything in because the registrar person did it for the class.

In response to your question about the transcript, I took my some of my prereqs at a different college and only had to submit one transcript (nursing school one). We had to wait for final grades to be officially posted, but once that was done with, the eligibility letter arrived in about a month. But I've known people who've actually gotten it sooner.

Thanks for the replies. Grentea..whatever..maybe u shouldnt have replied :) just a thought..
