So, I am in my final semester of nursing school and I will be done in December of this year (yay!!). :)
My boyfriend lives in San Antonio, Texas, so I plan to relocate there as soon as I am done with school. I plan to take my NCLEX in San Antonio and to hopefully find a job as an RN. My only worry is finding a job. I currently live in West Virginia, so I am afraid it will be hard to find someone who is willing to hire a new graduate, who lives half way across the country.
Does anyone have any words of advice? When should I start applying if I plan to be graduating in December?

San Antonio is saturated with new grads. There are a lot of nursing programs in the area turning out RNs all the time. Will you have your ADN or BSN? Most hospitals want RNs with their BSN. If you are graduating with your ADN, I would apply to an RN to BSN program. If you already have your BSN, then no worries there. I would start applying for jobs as soon as you graduate & have your temporary license.
Thank you for your response! That calms my worries a little bit more! I will be graduating with my ASN, however I am already enrolled in an RN to BSN program and will be taking classes towards my BSN in January!
Awesome. Congrats on all your hard work & welcome (soon) to Texas. San Antonio is great. There is Methodist, Baptist, Nix, Spohn & University Health System. Apply to job but also keep an eye out for residencies & open houses.
Thanks!! I've already been looking at the residencies, as I would really love to be in something like that, instead of just being thrown in and feeling unprepared!
