Graduate nurse in Chicago

Published

Hi everyone,

I recently graduated from an RN (ADN) program in FL and moved here to Illinois. I am taking an RN-BSN program online, and sit for the NCLEX mid June. Everywhere I've looked, there are only job openings for BSN or experienced nurses. Is it worth it to keep applying? Or just finish the BSN and start next year? I worry about how it looks when you graduate and don't work as a nurse for a whole year. But there's not many options...and I've been searching high and low. I'm not picky, I've even contacted home health agencies who have the same requirements.

Any suggestions on hospitals/anything hiring a graduate nurse, who will have a BSN by next August? I am a massage therapist as well, so luckily I am not completely out of work.

PS...any NCLEX advice is more than welcome;)

Honest question, how were you able to enroll into a RN-BSN program without being licensed? Most RN-BSN programs i know require students to be licensed and possibly working if the program is online to supplant clinical hours.

When you have your ATT, you're able to enroll as long as you've passed the NCLEX by the class start date.
