Hi! This site has been very helpful for me and I finally decided to register (yaaay!). I graduated last March 2010 in the Philippines with a BSN degree. I came to the US on September and started reviewing for my NCLEX which I would be taking this March. While waiting for the exam, I decided to apply in hospitals offering residency programs. However, I am really stumped on how to go about with my resume. I was a full-time student back in school and I have no nursing or nursing-related work experiences. I have spent almost 4 days looking through sample resumes online but I still cannot complete my resume. And I think the one I have right now is so bare and dull. I don't know what to do. Can anyone give me any advice? Thank you very much!

I know you are studying for your NCLEX, but if you have the time & the resources, you can try getting certified in ACLS, BLS, PALS, IV Therapy/Blood Withdrawal etc. These can't hurt your resume, since most of these are required anyways if you want to work in an acute care setting.
As far as experience, try volunteering somewhere. You won't be doing any nursing, but maybe it will get your foot in the door for a nursing position.
Good Luck! :)
thanks hulladoll76!
looking for a job is really hard. anyway. i can't really afford going to those classes and i don't want to ask my parents for money. i'm trying to look for jobs in long-term facilities. but i can't keep my mind of thinking of working internationally. i love traveling and volunteering. i tried searching for the Navy or Military Nurse Corps but they don't accept foreign graduates. so i'm looking for possible international volunteer nurses. i don't think my parents won't allow me though. but i hop one day i can do it.
thanks for your help though! :)
I know what you mean! At this point, my resume is really bleak. Especially since I graduated a few years ago & my last clinical experience was my internship in college. I have to do something to make me a desirable candidate for a job, so I'm trying to take some of those classes. Ooooh, I love traveling! Hope you find something you're interested in :)
