Grad Announcement Advice!! Help!

Published

I am graduating nursing school at the end of this month. I already have invitations provided by our school (we can only invite 10 people). However, I want to create my own announcements to send out after the fact to family and friends who are not going to be invited to the graduation/pinning ceremony. I want these announcements to be casual. My question is this:

How should I word these announcements? I am hoping to include a blurb in there about my new RN position waiting for me as well.

Thank u in advance to all who can assist!

Good Morning...Here is an idea for your invitation...(I am currently putting together some of my own as well) Congrats on the RN job:)

I would like to announce my recent graduation

From Whatever Name of Your College

and would like to say thanks to my friends and family

for supporting me through nursing school.

Your help and encouragement

has lead me to a new career in Registered Nursing

at Such and Such Name of Facility.

Thank You!

I suggest a more professional note.

Perhaps say something like "your support and encouragment has helped me strive towards graduation. I have chosen and accepted to begin my nursing career at "2333 hospital".

This note explicitly states that people have helped you with school not necessarily get that job. And, it supports the idea that you can go anywhere with your career and you aren't owned by a particular institution.

Picky? I think not. It is about being professional and showing others that you are a professional. While nurses can not be recognized as nurses from other professions by our clothing, we can be recognized by our words and behavior.

Just whatever you do use spell checker - I thought it was so dumb looking to get my brother-in laws home made wedding invitation with spelling errors in it like they couldnt even take the time to proofread their own wedding invitation...I know none of us are perfect but, geez...

It just takes a minute people....

I don't think that is being picky. :)

I do have 2 types of announcements I am sending out...one that sounds super professional...and the personal ones. I was asking advice for the casual personal ones. These are going out to my old friends from high school, some good neighbors of mine, and my siblings.

I did change around the wording from what LPN mama gave me a little.(Mine actually sounds like yours telenurse)..but LPN mama's guidance helped me go beyond my "writer's block" I was experiencing at the start.

HAHA!! Absolutely! Typos on professional documents irritate the hell out of me. When I am on here typing...I could care less about the typos. But, when it comes to correspondence with others through letters/advertisements and such, I cannot stand typos. I know that nobody is perfect...but I have a reputation to uphold with my spelling...I was winning spelling bees left and right back in the day :rotfl: (That is actually true about the spelling bees.Kinda nerdy, huh?)

Can you believe I actually went out and rented the spelling bee documentary movie "Spellbound"? I still have my spelling bee trophies in a drawer somewhere.
