GPC to Georgia State Questions

Published

Hi, I am currently a student at Georgia Perimeter college. I started at GPC four years ago and didn't know what I really wanted to be. After a couple of years, I realized that I always wanted to be a nurse. My GPA at the moment is 2.76 and I have at least 60 credit hours. A lot of these credit hours and overall gpa include courses that were not needed for nursing such as art appreciation, history, sociology etc. I took so many courses because I was doing general studies but now I know I really want to be a nurse and obtain a bachelor at GA State. I have completed almost all of the prerequisite for science except Chem 2 and lab. Do I stand a chance with my overall gpa? Do Georgia state look at my overall gpa or just the prerequisite? I am also studying for the teas so I will be taking that soon.

I am currently at a lost in life because I don't know where I could go to get a bachelor with my low gpa. My dream school have always been Mercer, GA state, and Kenessaw. Thanks

They look at program GPA, and it needs to be high, around 3.8.

What courses would be included in program gpa? I know that science such as chem, anatomy , micro are looked at..but also what other classes? Thanks.. Also does that mean they won't look at my history or art class?

I would check out their website, most info is on there. If you still have questions, I would ask someone in nursing admissions. I do know people who have gotten turned down or wait listed with 3.6-3.7 GPA's though, so it is highly competitive. Your teas also needs to be mid 80s-90s.

Hi, thank you so much for answering. I notice you live in Atlanta GA too. Are you currently trying to obtain a degree in nursing too? If so, what kind and what school do attend? Thanks and I appreciate your response becuase I need all the help I can get. :)

I just finished my pre-reqs. I will be starting a BSN program this fall. I am not 100% sure on the school, waiting for decisions from 2 other schools. I already got in to Mercer for the fall though. I did not apply to the state schools as their locations don't work for me.
