What is the median gpa to get into a nursing program. I know it varies from school to school, but i just need an estimate. Im taking a/p 1 psych sociology and english compo 1. I would like to know your opinion on these classes for my first semester. By the way im 18 years old.

It not only depends on the school but it also depends on other applicants' GPA and whatever test your nursing school uses.
For my school, which has a very competitive program, I had a 3.7 GPA but I scored in the 97% on the NLN test and I got in. I hear that sometimes that people have a 3.9 GPA, score horribly on the NLN and don't make it in. So...there are a number of factors that help determines if you will get in Nursing school or not.

Don't worry about the median. Get a 4.0 and you will have no problems. If you cannot get a 4.0, get as close to that as you can - what I mean is do the best you can.
"Normal" students can afford to slack off, slide in with a B in A&P, cut a few Sociology classes, mail it in on a Psych assignment or two, or not really proofread their Comp papers. Guess what kid - you cannot. You want to go in to nursing so you have to crush in every class.
Now you'll hear the stories from those who got in with lower GPAs. That's fine and all. But here's the thing, do you want to have to apply to multiple programs, hoping against hope that you somehow "made the median" and got lucky to get in, or do you want to stroll up, lay your thing down and walk into the program?
If getting stellar grades doesn't sound like what you want to do right now, then wait. Go to work, hang out with friends, get drunk, dance, howl at the moon. When you are finished with all that, nursing school will still be there.
The good news is if you put the effort in, you can do it. Don't worry about what the median or average might be - do the very best you can and if you don't get in, you can say, "Well, I sure as heck gave it my best shot."
I've seen a lot of students fail to achieve their goals simply because they didn't try hard enough (heck I have been that student). Don't be one of those.
Good luck!
Thank you guys so much.this is why i post on this site to get support. Im going to aim for a 4.0 but try and get nothing less than a 3.5

It really depends on the program and what they look at. Some programs go solely based on GPA, in which case you would need at least a 3.8 most likely. Some programs look at your life experience along with GPA/test scores and some don't even look at GPA, they just have a waiting list.
Best bet is to ask your advisor or the advisors for the schools you are looking at.
My advisor said i get a point for living in the county because my courses are at a CC. She also said i need a 3.5 ATLEAST!!! Which is like an A

3.5 is half A's half B's am I correct? I remember when I was just starting out at 17, I made all A's. People love to make excuses -- oh I was young, I just wanted to party. BS! If you make something a priority and you want it bad enough, then it will happen. All my socializing/partying happens on the weekends. Hello, I am still a 20-year-old. I'm not sitting at home studying for a test on a Saturday. See, it can and does work if your mind is in it. Strive for the best grades possible and never look back :)

I agree with the previous poster who said strive for a 4.0 - I'm working my butt off in my summer courses and working ahead in reading for the fall because I want that 4.0 - my school stats a minimum of a 2.5, which is crap because they don't consider anyone under a 3.0. I don't know the median or even the mean, but my one friend got in with a 3.4, and my brother with as low as a 3.2. Right now I have a 3.7 but considering I dont find out if Im in or not until Jan. Im still shooting for all As
I know for a fact that i wont be partying during my first semester. Im new tocollege even if its at a CC i know nursing is no joke. The only thing that worries me is that my laziness can sometimes get the better of me. Ive also noticed that i do well when everyone wants to learn. Thank goodness everyone in the program will be strivong for a 4.0 i love conpetition
If you dont mind how did could you tell me how your first yr in college went. Hoe you overcame the odds
