Hi I am student at USF and am reallly interested in going to nursing school However, Last year was a very traumatic year for me which caused me to perform poorly in school. Do you think there is any hope for me to get into nursing school. I really want to get into nursing school more than anything. I am working really hard this semester to bring up my GPA

Most likely, you're going to need to bring up your GPA by a bit. The easiest way to do that would be to retake some of the classes you did the worse in, especially any prereq courses you did poorly in. Depending on your grades, if you can't bring up your overall GPA super high, you can try to look for some schools that focus mostly on prereq GPA rather than your overall GPA. UNF, for instance, has a overall GPA minimum requirement, but once they confirm your GPA is at or above the minimum, they only consider your prereq GPA in their ranking for admission. But I think their regular track requires at least a 2.8.

I recommend you check with individual programs to see how they calculate points for admission. That way, you can focus your efforts. My program considered GPA of the hard sciences, only ...so improving my GPA by making As in Ethics and Psychology would have been a waste of time and money. Some programs won't even consider retaken classes, and some will average the original grade with the retaken class instead of simply counting the higher grade. There is a LOT of variation.
I went to community college and was accepted as an alternate with a 3.7GPA. I'm sorry to say that a 2.6 does sound pretty grim.
